The Fuel Balance for the Union State of Belarus and Russia will be signed in December 2012, Belarusian Deputy Energy Minister Mikhail Mikhadyuk said at a press conference in Minsk on Tuesday, Oct. 9.

"The fuel balance will be approved in December 2012 at the upcoming meet of the Union Council of Ministers," he said.

In turn, the deputy head of Belenergo, Alexander Sivak, said that Belarus currently has no concise plans to import electricity in 2013. "It is hard comment now on the coming year. A decision for total imports of electricity will be made depending on the gas price. We hope that the price for energy enterprises is reduced," Sivak said. He added that total imports will be finalized no earlier than the end of November and the start of December.

According to Belenergo, Belarus will import 7.4 billion KWt hours of electricity from Ukraine and Russia in 2012. Exports will total 200 million KWt hours, all of which will go to Lithuania.
