BERLIN - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has said he hopes that Russia and Europe will fully cancel visa requirements, not just simplify them.
"We hope that Germany and other European Union countries, with whom we are holding talks now that the roadmap has been confirmed, will move not just toward simplifying visa exchanges, but toward the full cancellation of visas because only in this case can one expect the emergence of indivisible Europe and a full-fledged partnership," Medvedev said at a joint press conference with his German counterpart Christian Wulff on Nov. 8.

"Finding a solution to this issue is of key importance," he said.

Russia and Germany are important trade and business partners, and simplifying visa rules will give extra impetus to the development of the two countries, Medvedev said.
