Tbilisi - A co-leader of a nongovernmental organization has claimed that Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has a secret plan to destabilize Georgia after his party's defeat in Monday's parliamentary elections.

Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili and Justice Minister Zurab
Adeishvili have joined Saakashvili in devising a retaliatory scheme,
Eliso Kiladze of the My Georgia organization said in an interview
published in Thursday’s issue of Georgian newspaper Alia.

“Saakashvili will definitely approve the new government headed by
Bidzina Ivanishvili, after which the plan will be activated,” she said.

As part of the supposed plot, the crime rate would rocket, with more
cars getting stolen, more armed robberies perpetrated, and so on, she
predicted.

“The aim of all this is to undermine Ivanishvili’s reputation. A
second part of the plan is that food, gasoline and services will go up
in price because Saakashvili and his entourage control all of business
in Georgia today,” she said.

“And the third part of that plan is the emptying of the state budget, which had quite a big deficit even before the elections.”

Alia claims that Saakashvili and his entourage have their alleged
business interests abroad controlled by Givi Targamadze, a former
chairman of the parliamentary committee on defense and national
security, and that Targamadze has just left the country.

The paper says Targamadze has flown to Kyiv. Saakashvili,
Merabishvili, Adeishvili and Targamadze himself have large-scale
businesses in Ukraine that are registered in false names, according to
Alia.
