You're reading: CIS leaders to discuss joint air defense system in Ashgabat

MINSK - The presidents of CIS member states will discuss up to 20 topics at a summit in the Turkmen capital of Ashgabat on December 5, including currency market integration and the development of a joint air defense system, a spokesman for the Minsk-based CIS Executive Committee told Interfax.

“The Heads of State Council will discuss draft agreements addressing
cooperation in establishing an integrated currency market, training
specialists for counterterrorist divisions and forming the Council of
Financial Intelligence Heads,” he said.

The summit’s agenda also includes preparations to celebrate the 70th
anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in World War II and the
program for the CIS Year of Environmental Culture, which will be marked
in 2013.

Representatives of CIS member countries will meet in Minsk on Tuesday
to discuss preparations for a session of the Foreign Ministers Council
and the CIS summit in Ashgabat on December 4-5, the spokesman said.
