MOSCOW - The Estonian consulate in Moscow continues to seek a meeting with Estonian citizen Eston Kohver, who was arrested by the Russian special services on suspicion of espionage, the diplomatic mission said.

“We have been working on getting consular access to Eston Kohver since we received information on his detention. There are currently no changes,” the Estonian embassy in Moscow told Interfax.

The embassy said diplomats will continue to seek a meeting with Kohver.

On September 5, the public relations center of the Russian Federal Security Service said Estonian security officer Eston Kohver had been detained in the Pskov region on suspicion of being a spy.

“Eston Kohver, an employee of the Estonian Interior Ministry’s security police department, has been detained on the territory of the Russian Federation. A Taurus pistol with cartridges, 5,000 euros, special equipment for hidden audio recording, and materials that appear to be related to an espionage assignment were confiscated from the man,” the public relations center of the Russian Federal Security Service said.

The Moscow Lefortovo Court arrested Kohver on Sept. 6.
