You're reading: Human Rights Watch: Pussy Riot case drew more public response than cases of Khodorkovsky, Magnitsky

Moscow - The Pussy Riot case has drawn broad public response in Russian society, the Moscow office of Human Rights Watch said.

“We have not yet seen such a public campaign and such public response. The cases involving Khodorkovsky and Magnitsky did not draw such public response,” Tatyana Lokshina, deputy head of the Moscow office of Human Rights Watch, said.

Lokshina said the court decision was not a surprise to anyone.

“We did not have much hope. This is due to the clear bias of the trial, and the way the judge declined the defense lawyers’ requests,” she said.
