The North Caucasus militant leader Doku Umarov has not been found yet among the militants, killed in a sweep operation in Ingushetia, Ingushetia head Yunus-Bek Yevkurov told Interfax by telephone on March 30.

No confirmation has arrived that Umarov has been killed, he said.

Fourteen bodies and fragments of two bodies have been removed from the scene of the operation, he said.

"The bodies are identifiable. A woman was among the killed militants," Yevkurov said.

Law enforcement services are examining the terrain in the area of the operation, he said. "Two of the militants’ dugouts were blown up during the operation. The rubble is being cleared away," he said.

One of the killed militants has been identified as Abusupyan, Umarov’s near associate and an ideologist of the North Caucasus militants.

A security operation has been carried out against militants in a forested area in Ingushetia’s Sunzha district.
