MOSCOW - The lawyers of former Yukos head Mikhail Khodorkovsky and his business partner Platon Lebedev will continue to push for a review of the second verdict handed down for their clients.

"We will appeal to the Supreme Court by all means. There was in fact little hope for the Moscow City Court," Khodorkovsky’s lawyer Yuri Shmidt has told Interfax.

On Monday, the Moscow City Court rejected Khodorkovsky and Lebedev’s petition to review the second verdict against the two.

The decision of the Moscow City Court and its chairperson, who refused to examine Khodorkovsky and Lebedev’s complaint against the second verdict, has been predictable, Shmidt said.

"It seems to us that the Supreme Court has been a bit more independent as regards the Khodorkovsky and Lebedev case," he added.

The resolution of the Russian Presidential Council for Human Rights and Civil Society Development on the second trial of Khodorkovsky and Lebedev will be sent to the Supreme Court along with other documents, the lawyer said.
