MINSK - Minsk is willing to continue playing the role as a neutral forum on which various serious issues could be settled, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Saturday.

“Belarus’s foreign policy is still based on striving for peace, equitable interaction with all partners without exception, and mutual respect. In essence, our multi-pronged approach in foreign policy is similar to Turkmenistan’s neutrality,” the Belarusian state news agency BelTA quoted Lukashenko as saying at an international conference on ‘Neutrality policy: International cooperation for peace, security and development’ in Ashgabat on Saturday.

“As well as Turkmenistan, Belarus stands for unconditional priority of political-diplomatic methods in settling any international conflicts, including those that have lately broken out in the region,” he said.

“Our country is applying as much effort as it can to peacefully settle these conflicts, and the conflict in Ukraine can prove this. Minsk has become an ideal neutral ground on which most serious issues can be addressed today. And if the world powers need this in the future, we are ready to play this role,” he said.
