VLADIVOSTOK - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has proposed to "exempt from customs duties imported planes with carrying capacity of up to 72 people: to promote the development of small aircraft.

Speaking at a meeting on the development of the Far East, Medvedev
also proposed to expand leasing for the development of small aircraft,
saying the state intends to provide 1.9 billion rubles for that.

Medvedev also said he intends to “hold a big meeting on the development of regional transportation in the nearest future.”

“It is our duty to change the situation when people who live in the
biggest country of the world have to fly from one region to another
through Moscow. Of course, it won’t happen in a half year or a year, but
it needs to be done, otherwise statehood will suffer,” Medvedev said.
