Cannes - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev believes that European countries should make decisions about financial sources to support European Union member states that have found themselves in a critical situation.

"Risk sharing seems quite reasonable and the stated sums are sufficient to calm down the markets. But one needs to make decisions concerning financial sources to meet these targets, what role the IMF and European Central Bank should play, and precisely what countries that are ready to support European partners need to do," Medvedev said in his speech at the G20 business summit.

Russia is part of Europe and is therefore not indifferent to problems facing the euro zone, he added.

"We will participate in supporting EU member states at least via the IMF," Medvedev said.
