You're reading: Putin against splitting pipelines off from Gazprom

Moscow - It would be economically unwise to detach the transport component from Gazprom, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the VTB Capital investment forum Russia Calling! on Tuesday.

In Putin’s opinion, the division of production, transport and distribution at the property level, as required by the European Union’s Third Energy Package, is an incorrect approach.

“If transport is allocated separately, transport will die. It lives by means of cross subsidization through production and sales,” Putin said.

“We need to change the company’s economy and ensure access to the pipeline transport system,” Putin said.
