You're reading: Russia ‘will have three new divisions to counter increase of NATO forces’

Two new divisions will be created in the Western Military District and one will be created in the Southern Military District to counter the increase of the NATO forces near the Russian borders, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.

“The Defense Ministry is taking a number of measures to counter the increase of the NATO forces in the direct vicinity of the Russian borders. Two new divisions will be formed in the Western Military District and one will be formed in the Southern Military District before the end of this year,” Shoigu told an intercom meeting on Wednesday.

He said the locations of these divisions are currently being prepared.

“I have ordered the use of state-of-the-art construction solutions in the construction of facilities. We are talking about bloc and module constructions. Flow line production, and module supply technologies, make it possible to build a building within three weeks, four weeks at the maximum,” the minister said.

The minister said a building can be promptly assembled, and relocated, if the need arises. The entire supply system, including boilers, is made in the same way.
