Tbilisi - Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has been honored with the highest French decoration - the National Order of the Legion of Honour. Saakashvili received the award on Friday from the hands of his French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy, the Georgian presidential administration told Interfax.
"I could not imagine that I will receive one of the highest awards," Saakashvili said.
The Georgian president gave Sarkozy a tour of the presidential palace and told him of the projects due to be implemented in the country.
Then Sarkozy left Tbilisi, with French Ambassador to Georgia Eric Fournier seeing him off at the airport.
