MOSCOW - Thirteen Russians arrested in Poland after clashes with local football fans on June 12 remain in custody, attache Valeriya Perzhinskaya at the Russian Embassy in Warsaw told Interfax.

“Of the 28 arrested Russians, 13 people remain under arrest,” she said.

“With respect to six of them, decisions have been made to extend
their custody period, including by three months for four of them, and by
one month for the fifth,” the embassy official said.

Also, two decisions were made with respect to the sixth Russian: a
three-month sentence and a two-month extension of the custody period,
but the latter decision can still be reviewed within two-weeks time,
Perzhinskaya said.

“All of our arrested citizens are charged under Article 158 of the
Polish Penal Code. That is participating in scuffles and attacking
police officers,” Perzhinskaya said.

At the same time, this information is not final as new data keeps coming in, she said.

The Polish authorities have yet to provide the Russian Embassy with
formal decisions on the arrested Russians, Perzhinskaya said. “Formally,
no decisions have yet been made available to us. What we do know was
learned by us from our contact with police stations,” said the attache,
adding that the situation is due to bureaucratic hurdles.

The Russian Embassy’s consular officers are visiting the police
stations where the Russians are held, but the situation is being
compounded by the fact that the police stations are overfull with Polish
hooligans, she said.
