You're reading: Udaltsov: Razvozzhayev could be forced to confess alleged Georgian funding of Moscow disturbances

Moscow - Left Front leader Sergei Udaltsov has rejected the Russian Investigative Committee information of the alleged Georgian financing of the May March of Millions in Moscow.

“Either the Investigative Committee has published misinformation or Razvozzhayev has been forced to make that confession, probably, under torture,” Udaltsov told Interfax.

“I can assure you that this information is wrong. Neither the May 6 action nor any other were financed by certain Targamadze,” the opposition member said.

He suggested that “the Investigative Committee might be spreading such information deliberately for discrediting the opposition.”

Earlier Udaltsov refuted his involvement in preparing disturbances in Russia, which was claimed in the “Anatomy of Protest-2” film.

Leonid Razvozzhayev, an aide to State Duma deputy Ilya Ponomaryov, has confessed to investigators that the massive unrest that occurred in Moscow’s Bolotnaya Square on May 6 had been financed by the former head of the Georgian parliament committee for defense and security Givi Targamadze, official spokesman for the Investigative Committee of Russia Vladimir Markin has told Interfax on Monday.

“On October 21 Razvozzhayev himself contacted the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee and said he was willing to turn himself in,” Markin said.

“He described in detail the circumstances of the way he, Left Front coordinator Sergei Udaltsov and other persons had planned to organize massive unrest in the territory of the Russian Federation and also the involvement of the said persons in massive unrest that occurred in Bolotnaya Square on May 6,” Markin said.

“It follows from Razvozzhayev’s confession that this unrest was financed by Targamadze,” Markin said.

The official said Razvozzhayev was declared federally wanted on October 18.

At the motion of the Main Investigative Department the court ruled to take Razvozzhayev into custody in relation to the criminal case of intended massive unrest in Moscow and other parts of Russia launched in relation to the film “Anatomy of Portest-2”.
