ARKHANGELSK - The United States Ambassador to Russia John Tefft said that there is an opportunity for cooperation of Moscow and Washington on Syria, despite the differences.

The U.S. and Russia may cooperate, for example, on Syria, Tefft told reporters on August 30, pointing out that there still may be differences. It is important for Russia and the U.S. to cooperate not only to secure each other, but also to make the world better and safer.

Earlier on August 30, the Kremlin expressed regret over the U.S. being not ready for real cooperation on Syria.

In turn, the Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook told Interfax that Russia and the U.S. succeeded in reducing some differences on Syria, but there is no definite agreement yet.
