About a million football fans have visited Ukraine since the beginning of June, the press secretary of Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, Vitaliy Lukyanchenko, has said.
“From June 5 until the present day some 4.3 million visitors arrived
in Ukraine. One cannot say how many of them are football fans, but it is
25% more than last year. Therefore, we can assume that more than one
million fans have visited Ukraine so far,” he told journalists in Kyiv
on June 20.
The European Football Championship kicked off on June 8 with an
opening match in Poland and will finish with the final match on July 1
in Olympiysky National Sports Complex in Kyiv. On the whole, Ukraine
will host 16 matches out of 31.
