You're reading: Blokhin says he hasn’t betrayed Ukraine’s national team

The new head coach of FC Dynamo Kyiv, Oleh Blokhin, doesn't agree with the statements that he has betrayed the national football team of Ukraine having accepted the post of Dynamo's manager.

“I was reading the press yesterday… They have already called me a traitor, accused of quitting the national team. In no way am I a traitor. I offered the leadership of the FFU (Football Federation of Ukraine) right away to lead the team until the end of the qualification, but there is a decision of the executive committee that one cannot combine two posts. Secondly, in this situation I am not betraying anyone, I will work in the team, whose seven footballers, or even more, play in the national team. I will be preparing all these guys for the national team. I honestly do not like the word ‘traitor’, I haven’t betrayed anyone,” he said after being presented to Dynamo on Wednesday, the press service of the club reported.

Blokhin said he did not intend to combine the posts of the head coach of Dynamo and that of the Ukrainian national team.
