You're reading: Latin American Herald Tribune: Spain to take on Ukraine in Davis Cup world group

LONDON – Spain’s Davis Cup team will take on Ukraine at home Sept. 13-15 in World Group action, the International Tennis Federation, or ITF, said Wednesday.

The ITF draw for the World Group tie was held in London and Ukraine was one of four possible opponents for Spain.

The Ukrainian team has not distinguished itself in World Group ties, being beaten 3-2 by Belgium in its only appearance in 2009.

Ukraine will be led by world No. 22 Alexandr Dolgopolov, one of the most talented players on the ATP Tour, Sergiy Stakhovsky, 98th in the world, Illya Marchenko, the world No. 122, and Denys Molchanov, who is ranked 238th in the world.
