You're reading: Lviv City Council allocates land plot to build sports complex for EuroBasket 2015

Lviv - Lviv City Council has allocated a land plot for the construction of a sports complex that will host matches of the EuroBasket 2015 European Basketball Championship. 

A total of 68 deputies in the 90-seat city council voted for such a decision on Thursday.

According to the decision, the 5.8-hectare land plot was allocated the municipally owned Sport Resource enterprise, which will sign a contract wit h the investor of the construction.

The director of the department of city planning, Andriy Pavlov, said at a council meeting that the preparation of land documentation would take about three months. He expressed hope that excavation work would start in early April this year. The approximate period of the construction of such a complex is 20 months.

Earlier, Lviv Regional Governor Mykhailo Kostiuk said that a private investor would finance the construction of a multi-purpose sports complex.
