Ukraine has claimed gold medals at the world chess championship in the women's competition, online news site Vesti.kz reported on Tuesday.

The report says that in the last round the Ukrainians ended the game with Russia in a draw.

“All four parties of the Ukrainian-Russian Ukrainian tie ended in a draw. Such a result helped the Ukrainian national team become the world champions for the first time. Having scored 16 points, Mykhailo Brodsky’s side couldn’t be caught by the Chinese women. The latter are continuing their match against India and are currently losing second place to Russia. But it’s enough for the Chinese not to lose to the Indians, for them to win the silver. Russia has at least secured bronze,” reads the report.
