Moscow interested in Kyiv's experience in preparations for Euro 2012
Moscow will learn Kyiv's experience in developing and constructing infrastructure for the Euro 2012 European Football Championship while preparing for the FIFA World Cup 2018, and Kyiv, in turn, is planning to use Moscow's experience for the implementation of the Big Kyiv Project.
Representatives of the cities said this during a penal discussion on urban development and architecture entitled "Development of a capital comfortable for living under the conditions of a transition economy" as part of Days of Moscow in Kyiv on September 12-15.
"We are also very interested in your experience [except for experiences in the sphere of architecture] in the rapid construction of sports facilities [during the preparations for Euro 2012]," Minister of Moscow City Government, Head of External Economic and International Relations Department Sergey Cheremin said in Kyiv on September 13.
He added that during the preparations for the 2018 World Cup, the capital of Russia would learn from Kyiv's experience in the organization of international sports events, particularly in the development of extra transport infrastructure and improving flight connections.
In turn, the head of the main department for urban planning and architecture of Kyiv, Serhiy Tselovalnyk, said that the capital of Ukraine is planning to use the experience of the development of Moscow city and region during the implementation of the Big Kyiv development plan.
He added that the memorandum on cooperation for development of Kyiv region, which was signed by the chairmen of Kyiv City State Administration and Kyiv Regional State Administration a year and a half ago, unfortunately "doesn't work" today.
