You're reading: Smartphone app to track Ukraine’s Olympic team in Brazil

Ukraine’s National Olympic Team has already departed for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where from Aug. 5 to Aug. 21 Ukraine’s top athletes will be competing for glory in the 2016 Summer Olympics.

And while there is a six-hour time difference between Ukraine and Brazil, fans of the Ukrainian team will be able to see the latest updates by using Olympic UA, a free mobile application designed especially to track the results of the national team.

Olympic UA was created by an international tech company headquartered in Kyiv, Infopulse, in cooperation with South Korean multinational conglomerate company Samsung and the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.

President of Ukraine’s National Olympic Committee Serhiy Bubka has endorsed the app, promising that “fans will be able to get the hottest Olympic news almost immediately.”

“Follow the victories of our team and never miss the best moments of the Olympic Games!” Bubka said in a statement announcing the release of the application.

Available for both Android and iOS devices, in English and Ukrainian, the app was publically presented during the official farewell ceremony dedicated to the departure of the Ukrainian Olympic Team to Rio on July 23.

The app has profiles of each member of Ukraine’s team, along with the reports on the team’s performances pulled directly to the app from the Olympic team’s official website. Other features include an Olympic Games schedule, timeline, photos, and reports from Rio 2016.

Customizable notifications will allow users to track individual and team results.

Along with that, the developers promise the app will provide exclusive 360-degree video content.

Infopulse and the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine said they also plan to develop and support the Olympic UA app in the future by extending the application’s functionality.

Infopulse CEO Andrey Anissimov said the app was “a brand new channel of communication for the National Olympic Committee.”

The IT company is encouraging the users of Olympic UA to leave their feedback about their experience with the mobile app. All feedback will be carefully reviewed, with the best ideas and suggestions being used to upgrade the application.

Infopulse, a part of the Nordic IT group EVRY A/S, is an international provider of services and solutions in the areas of Software R&D, Infrastructure Management, Information Security, and Business Process Outsourcing.
