Financial Times: Ukraine’s first steel mill in 40 years

For Viktor Pinchuk, the controlling shareholder of Interpipe, one of Ukraine's largest industrial groups, the new steel mill he unviled last week is about more than steel. \u201cThe art-loving businessman has designed the mill,\" known as Interpipe Steel, to also serve as an art exhibit, according to a Financial Times report.

Roman Olearchyk writes: “The sun is rising over Ukraine’s once-grey metallurgical industry, literally and figuratively speaking. Ukrainian billionaire Viktor Pinchuk has formally launched operation of the first new steel mill built in Ukraine in 40 years.”

The report continues: “With a $700 million price tag, the Dnipropetrovsk electric arc steel mill is largest greenfield investment in Ukraine since independence in 1991.”
