Addressing some 150 Ukrainian ambassadors serving in various parts of the world in Kyiv on Tuesday, Oct. 2, as the main speechmaker upon the invitation of his Ukrainian counterpart Kostyantyn Gryshchenko, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that Ukraine has been able to maintain the spirit of Eurasia.  

“Kyiv resembles Istanbul. You cannot understand the history of Eurasia without understanding Kyiv. Those who cannot understand Istanbul cannot understand the history of the Balkans, the Middle East and Europe," Davutoglu said. Davutoglu added that certain intellectuals define Ukraine as a land of war between the east and west and describe Turkey as an indecisive country.
