You're reading: 45 freight trains stand idle at Ukrzaliznytsia main tracks

The situation with the delays of freight wagons and trains through the fault of some cargo owners at the main tracks worsened from the beginning of August 2012.

As the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia State Railway Administration of Ukraine reported, as of the morning of August 29, 45 trains stood idle on the way to the enterprises of its clients. This hampers the movement of the freight and passenger trains and significantly complicates the operational work of the Ukrainian railways, Ukrzaliznytsia said.

In particular, 32 trains are waiting for loading at Prydniprovska Railways, eight empty trains are delayed at Donetsk Railways, and five trains (two with grain, two with hematite and one empty) – at Odesa Railways.

Moreover, 2,558 wagons were delayed and withdrawn from the circulation because of the violations of the normative terms of loading and unloading.

“Unfortunately, delays of the wagons of the clients of Ukrzaliznytsia are of a systemic and progressing character. In particular, the enterprises don’t implement the norms and considerably exceed the time of use of the wagons during cargo operations on branch lines,” the text from the administration read.

According to Ukrzaliznytsia, such practice on the non-maintenance of the regulations of loading-unloading operations, delays of the wagons and trains at the spur tracks of the enterprises lead to the losses of the loading resources. Moreover, left trains often impede movement of cargo and passenger trains at the main tracks that also lead to financial losses of the railways.

“Ukrzaliznytsia insists on maintenance of the norms of the single technological process and demands the well-timed return of rolling stock from the senders of freight and freight owners,” reads a press release.
