Acting Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Deschytsia has asked acting Interior Minister Arsen Avakov to provide evidence of alleged violation of the Ukrainian-Russian treaty on the presence of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Crimea by Black Sea Fleet servicemen.
I have asked my colleague, Interior Minister Avakov, to provide
evidence proving that Russian servicemen have surpassed the boundaries
of their military bases without Ukraine’s consent, as is stipulated by
the relevant treaty between Ukraine and Russia,” Deschytsia said at a
meeting with foreign ambassadors in Kyiv on Friday.
As soon as the Foreign Ministry obtains such proof, it will send a
relevant note to Russia, Deschytsia said. “We want to settle this
situation in a peaceful way. I mean both the Russian Federation and the
people living on the Crimean Peninsula,” he said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry reported earlier that Russia had handed a
note to Minister-Counselor of the Ukrainian Embassy in Moscow Ruslan
Nimchynsky regarding the movement of Russian Black Sea Fleet armored
vehicles, insisting that this complies with the Russian-Ukrainian
agreements.
