The northern part of the site of the current government military operation in Ukraine's Donetsk region remains a hotbed of tension, the Donetsk regional administration said on June 11.

The situation was also tense as of 4 p.m. in the region’s cities of Horlivka, Donetsk, Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, Krasny Lyman, Mariupol, Snizhne, Torez, and Volnvakha, and in the cities and districts of Kostiantynivka, Maryinka, Sloviansk and Shakhtarsk, the administration said in a statement posted on its provisional website.

Fighting remains underway in the city and district of Sloviansk and in the city of Torez. In Torez, members of the armed supporters of the self-proclaimed “Donetsk People’s Republic” arrived at the city police station and took its chief investigator hostage, the statement said.

In Shakhtarsk city, heavy weapons belonging to the militants have been seen moving toward Snizhne.

The Shakhtarsk district section of the Ukrainian-Russian border remains unguarded, while the border villages of Dmytrivka and Marynivka are under control of unlawful armed groups.

Krasny Lyman is under government control, and all services in the city are running as normal, the statement said.
