You're reading: AeroSvit in talks with airports to resume flights

AeroSvit (Kyiv) was forced to cancel a number of flights on January 5-8 due to the suspension of their servicing at some airports, particularly in Warsaw, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Tel Aviv, the press service of the company has said.

The grounding of the airline’s aircraft at the airports, in turn, restricted AeroSvit’s possibility of ensuring the timely implementation of flights to other destinations.

“The decision of airports and handling companies was caused by distorted information in some online mass media about the alleged declaring of AeroSvit bankrupt. Contractors, according to their requests, feared that the Ukrainian carrier may terminate operations and payment for the services rendered,” reads a company press release.

Due to this, AeroSvit sent a written notice to all partner companies that it is intending to continue operations and fulfill its current liabilities.

AeroSvit also said that the airline’s appeal to the Economic Court of Kyiv region with a request to initiate bankruptcy is aimed at launching the procedure of reorganization, restoring the company’s solvency and ensuring the company fulfills its obligations to creditors in full.

“The airline is continuing talks with the administrations of airports on the suspending AeroSvit’s flights, and hopes for compromise,” the company’s press service said.

As reported, AeroSvit in a statement on January 4 emphasized that the company is not bankrupt, it would not stop operations, and that it is fulfilling its functions in full, including measures to ensure flight safety.
