The increase in the floor wholesale and retail prices of some type of alcohol foreseen in cabinet resolution No. 1017 took effect from November 26, 2012. 

The press service of the State Tax Service in Kyiv reported on Friday that the floor retail price of a half-liter bottle of vodka grew by 9.2%, from Hr 26.10 to Hr 28.50 and the wholesale price rise by 8.7%, from Hr 17.70 to Hr 19.40.

The retail price of a half-liter bottle of the cheapest cognac (three stars) was up by 17.6%, from Hr 33.08 to Hr 38.90, for four-star cognac it grew by 18.1%, from Hr 37.16 to Hr 43.90, and for five-star cognac it was up by 20.2%, from Hr 41.10 to Hr 49.40.

The minimum wholesale price of a half-liter bottle of three-star cognac grew from Hr 24.27 to Hr 24.90, for four-star cognac it grew from Hr 26.86 to Hr 28.10, and for five-star cognac it was up from Hr 29.78 to Hr 31.62.

According to the report, the floor price of a 0.7-liter bottle of wine did not change, remaining at Hr 18.

As reported, on November 7, 2012, the cabinet passed a resolution on amendments to the annex to cabinet resolution No. 957 of October 30, 2008 which proposed a gradual increase in the minimum wholesale and retail prices of alcohol.

According to the resolution, before January 1, 2013, the wholesale price of vodka and liquors is decreased from the present Hr 88.50 to Hr 87.60 per liter of 100% spirit, and the retail price is increased from Hr 130.50 to Hr 142.50 per liter of 100% spirit. From February 1, 2013, the wholesale price of vodka and liquors grows to Hr 105.50 per liter of 100% spirit, and the retail price – to Hr 150.50 per liter of 100% spirit.

The document also foresees a rise in the prices of cognac: for three stars the wholesale price grows from Hr 121.34 to Hr 132 per liter of 100% spirit, the retail price – from Hr 165.40 to Hr 183.90 per liter of 100% spirit; for four stars the wholesale price grows from Hr 134.63 to Hr 145.40 per liter of 100% spirit, the retail price – from Hr 185.80 to Hr 196 per liter of 100% spirit; and for five stars the wholesale price grows from Hr 148.91 to Hr 158 per liter of 100% spirit, the retail price – from Hr 205.50 to Hr 208 per liter of 100% spirit.

The retail price of wine is increased from Hr 18 to Hr 19.60 per 0.7-liter bottle.

The floor prices of alcohol were reintroduced late in October 2008 at the request of alcohol producers. The last time when the prices were revised by the government was in August 2011.

The minimum retail price of a 0.5-liter bottle of vodka was increased by 45.3%, to Hr 26.1, the price of brandy (three stars) rose by 26.7%, to Hr 33.08 per bottle, and the minimum retail price of a 0.7-liter bottle of wine grew by 50%, to Hr 18.
