The issue of the trial of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko could come up in the talks between Ukrainian and Russian Presidents Viktor Yanukovych and Dmitry Medvedev in Sochi on August 11, a political scientist and director of the BertaCommunications strategic consulting firm, Taras Berezovets, has said.

"Obviously, the subject of the Tymoshenko trial will be a topic of a conversation between Dmitry Medvedev and Viktor Yanukovych," he said at a press conference at the Interfax-Ukraine news agency on Tuesday.

"This meeting is slated for August 11, and taking into account the leak of information from the Russian Foreign Ministry that the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement was personally written by Minister Sergei Lavrov, it is clear that the position of President Medvedev will be in this vein – rather tough with respect to this case, as has already been expressed by Mr. Lavrov," Berezovets said.
