Brussels – EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Catherine Ashton has again expressed her concern over the situation in Ukraine and said that the EU Council intended to discuss the political boycott of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship in Ukraine.

Ashton said this in Brussels on Monday before a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, which will address the Ukrainian issue, in particular the prospects of the association agreement, the EU position regarding Euro 2012 and relations with Ukraine as a whole.

The EU high commissioner noted that Brussels had already expressed concern about the situation with Ukraine’s convicted former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and would continue to send such signals.
