The court of appeals of Naples has ruled to release a former employee of Ukraine's presidential guard, Mykola Melnychenko, from detention.

Former Head of Kharkiv Regional State Administration Arsen Avakov, who is in Italy now, wrote on his page in Facebook that Melnychenko’s Italian lawyer told him that all formal issues are most likely to be settled in the afternoon and Melnychenko will leave the detention facility.

As reported, on August 3 Melnychenko was arrested at Naples Airport on a warrant issued by the Ukrainian bureau of Interpol. On August 6, a court of Naples postponed a hearing on the issue of the extradition of Melnychenko due to the fact that he asked not to be extradited. The Justice Ministry of Italy was to decide on the issue within ten days.
