Some 100,000 depositors of the former Soviet Sberbank had received compensation payments worth a total of Hr 93 million as of June 5, Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov said.

"On June 1, the payment of compensations to the Sberbank depositors started. As of June 5, some 100,000 depositors received over Hr 93 million. Not a bad start over a couple of banking days," he said, while opening a meeting of the government on June 6.

According to the premier, dates for receiving the payments have been appointed for 1.6 million depositors, and dates have been also appointed for one million depositors to check their information on the register of depositors.

"The task of the Finance Ministry and our Oschadbank is to keep making regular payments together and pay attention to every depositor," Azarov stressed.
