The Ukrainian government is planning to continue saving funds to resolve pressing social problems in the country, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.

"We have withstood the regime of saving money in a tough economy, and we are continuing to work," he said, while opening a government meeting early on Wednesday.

Azarov said that on June 21, the State Treasury had suspended a payment order from the Kyiv employment center for the purchase of rather an expensive car.

"I welcomed the actions of the treasury, and I think that the Labor Ministry will part with the head of the center who forgot about an order issued by the prime minister," he said.

"Don’t even dream of buying a personal vehicle until we resolve the most pressing problems of the people. Nobody cancelled the responsibility for observing the regime of saving funds in a tough economy," Azarov said.
