The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers it is to take a series of comprehensive measures aimed at improving road safety, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said at a meeting on Wednesday, August 7. 

“At the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, we will hear reports from the relevant agencies. We have decided to adopt a series of comprehensive measures to gradually improve road safety,” the prime minister told journalists in Kyiv on Monday after attending a driving school.

According to the prime minister, the requirements for training drivers have to be raised, through, for instance, increasing the number of hours for studying at driving schools the legal consequences of violating traffic rules, as well as reducing the number of licensed driving schools that offer intensive driving courses within a shorter period of time, and produce drivers who do not comply with the traffic rules.

In addition, Azarov said he believes that it is necessary to improve the quality of work and responsibility of traffic police officers.
