Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov has said he hopes that the new parliament will quickly forget the emotions of the election and start to work efficiently.

“Let’s hope that new Verkhovna Rada will finally forget the emotionality of the election and start to work,” he wrote on his page in Facebook on Friday.

The premier said he was surprised that none of the leaders of the parties that entered the parliament came to the first sitting of the working group on the preparation and organization of the new session of the parliament.

“In my opinion, it was not just because of their disrespect for their colleagues, but also a lack of understanding of the importance parliament plays in the life of our country,” he added.

Azarov said he had participated in many such groups and but this was the first time he had seen such a situation.

He also said he was disappointed that three hours of the sitting of the working group were obstructed by the opposition and its unwillingness to resolve certain issues of the parliament’s work.

“I wish MPs fully appreciated their responsibilities, and could differentiate between election rhetoric and the need to work very seriously with documents, taking decisions,” the head of the parliament wrote.
