No more curbs will be applied to grain exports, said Ukraine's Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.

"If a good crop is harvested no curbs will be needed," Azarov told U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Treasury Christopher Smart, according to the Ukrainian government office.

The autumn and spring agricultural campaigns were successful and the farmland was well fertilized, which inspires the hope for a good crop in 2011, Azarov said.

The government had to protect the domestic food market over an abnormal heat wave in Ukraine last year and a shortage of grain worldwide, he said, adding that this will keep domestic bread prices at a much lower level, compared to the European Union.

Azarov spoke about the government’s efforts to ensure stable and effective farming and to form a state grain stock.

"We have solid leftover reserves and a large state stock of 1.6 million tonnes. Forward purchases have begun already," the Ukrainian prime minister said.
