Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov has instructed the Economic Development and Trade Ministry to adjust the macroeconomic development indices for 2012 in line with the growth of the economy, according to which the Finance Ministry will draw up relevant amendments to the 2012 national budget.

"Today the Finance Ministry has started drawing up amendments to the budget for the current year with the aim of implementing social initiatives presented by the president of Ukraine on March 7," reads a posting on the Web site of the government on Monday.

Azarov ordered a bill on amendments to the national budget for 2012 to be drafted by the end of March.

The premier also said he hoped that the document would be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, at the beginning of April, and the MPs would consider and pass it by the end of April.

"Thus, starting from May, we’ll be able to start implementing the new social policy through the budget," reads the statement.

Azarov said the government would fulfill the tasks outlined by the president to boost the social protection of citizens.
