Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has instructed the heads of local administrations to urgently organize agricultural fairs in order to reduce food prices, which have risen in some places due to heavy snowfall in Ukraine.

“I would like to note that there are reports in some media that some businesses are using the temporary difficulties with the provision of trade networks with food, ‘slyly’ increasing retail prices for bread, milk and vegetables. Taking advantage of such a situation is immoral,” he said, while opening a government meeting on Wednesday.

Azarov asked the heads of local administrations to urgently stabilize the situation and the best way to do this, in his opinion, is to organize agricultural food fairs.

“The demand for fruit and vegetables is growing, there’s no shortage of them in the country, so it all depends on the organization of supplies,” he said.
