A total of 1,500 kilometers of roads will be built in Ukraine in 2011, according to Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov.

"We set the goal of building 1,000 kilometers of roads in 2011, but the president… says that we should build 1,500 kilometers. Since the president sets the tasks, we’ll build 1,500 [kilometers of roads],"he said, speaking at the opening of a section of the Stryi-Kirovohrad-Znamianka highway bypassing Babanka (Cherkasy region).

Azarov said that in 2012 it is planned to increase the pace of new road construction to 2,000-4,000 kilometers per year.
