Ukraine will not construct big sports facilities for the EuroBasket 2015 European Basketball Championship, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.

“Today while preparing for EuroBasket 2015 no one will build gigantic facilities,” he told a Tuesday press conference in Kyiv.

“It’s a bad time to suffer from gigantomania. Actually, I don’t think that we suffered gigantomania [during the preparations for the Euro 2012 European Football championship]. We faced a very difficult situation in 2010-2011 and we only hoped we could cope with the task. No one thought about gigantomania, trust me,” he said.

At the same time, Azarov stressed that these facilities are being constructed for the future.

“Of course, we will take note of the criticism we can hear today,” he said.
