The bill on the calculation of time in Ukraine will be based on the government's proposal to switch to winter (standard) time of the second time zone this year and to keep it unchanged from that time on, Emergencies Minister of Ukraine Viktor Baloha has said.

This was decided at a meeting chaired by Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov on Monday, the press service of the Emergency Situations Ministry reported.

"The speakers recommended that given that Ukraine will host the European Football Championship, they should switch to daylight saving time this year for the convenience of foreigners. Then, in the autumn, the country should go back to standard time and will live on according to it. This position of scientists and the prime minister to keep the second time zone in Ukraine will be the basis for the bill, which will be prepared and submitted to the Verkhovna Rada," Baloha said after the meeting.
