The Batkivschyna Party will lodge an appeal with the Higher Administrative Court of Ukraine against a ruling of Kyiv's Administrative Court of Appeal not to include the names of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and former Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko on the ballots for voting on party lists at the upcoming parliamentary elections in Ukraine.
“When it comes to Tymoshenko and Lutsenko, they have been refused
registration, but they remained on the list of the political party. So
technically they should have been included on the ballot,” lawyer Tamara
Mazur, who represents the interests of the Batkivschyna Party, said on
Monday after a meeting of Kyiv’s Administrative Court of Appeal.
According to her, while passing this ruling, “the judges disregarded
paragraph 4 of Article 80 of the electoral law, which clearly indicates
that the ballot should include the first five [candidates] approved by
the political party’s congress.”
According to Mazur such actions of the court prevented the due consideration of the complaint.
The Batkivschyna Party says it intends to appeal to the Higher Administrative Court within two days.
