Batkivschyna's political council has voted unanimously in favor of maintaining the party team that was formed ahead of the 2012 parliamentary elections and in favor of running in the snap polls to the Verkhovna Rada, set for Oct. 26.

“The party voted unanimously for its consolidation with all democratic pro-European parties in the next parliament. A decision concerning forms of such cooperation will be adopted after the elections,” the party said in a statement.

The Batkivschyna press service said that the political council had also decided to support to re-appointment of Arseniy Yatsenyuk to the post of Ukraine’s prime minister after a new parliamentary coalition was formed.

Batkivschyna leader Yulia Tymoshenko, for her part, reiterated the need to overhaul the party’s ticket by including as many civil society representatives as possible on it.

On Monday, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko issued a decree that dissolved the country’s parliament and set a snap election to the Verkhovna Rada for Oct. 26.
