Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has held a phone conversation with U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden, the press service of the head of state has reported.
According to the report, the sides discussed international efforts for the implementation of the president’s peace plan in the Donbas and the restoration of infrastructure in the areas were freed by Ukrainian Armed Forces from militants.
“Poroshenko noted that today the Ukrainian authorities paid significant attention to the restoration of proper living conditions in the liberated towns, in particular, on ensuring water and electricity supply, television and radio broadcasting, which were destroyed or seriously damaged by militants. The head of state noted that the revival of a peaceful life in the Donbas was a priority for Ukraine, given what the residents of the east had to endure during terrorist invasion on Ukrainian populated centers,” reads the statement.
Biden, in turn, said he was delighted with the self-restraint and actions of Ukraine and reiterated further support on the part of the United States.
“Biden said that the United States is ready to consider funding projects to rebuild infrastructure in the Donbas, following the example of the German initiative for residents of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk,” the press service said.
Biden also said that the United States was ready to make every effort to expand the support of international financial institutions for Ukraine.
