Kyiv-based Boryspil international airport denies information published in some media reports that the airport faces losses.

“The conclusion that the Boryspil airport is unprofitable is untrue. Information from open sources of the SMIDA (Stock Market Infrastructure Development Agency), which journalist did not check, shows that in H1, 2012 the net profit of the airport came to over Hr 270 million. The financial plans for 2012 and for 2013 do not foresee losses,” reads an official report of the airport, a copy of which has been sent to Interfax-Ukraine.

The report says that the Boryspil airport is developing in line with a strategic plan for 2009-2029 – the construction and reconstruction of all infrastructure facilities of the main airport of Ukraine is carried out according to the strategy.

“All funds spent on construction, in particular, of new terminals, are the airport’s own funds and borrowed funds, which the airport services itself,” the airport said.

In addition, the airport commented on suggestions by reporters that the airport was hiding information on the volume of loans accumulated by the company: on the SMIDA portal (http://www.smida.gov.ua/db/participant/20572069) all financial information on the airport as an issuer of securities and on the state of its debt is published in open access, the airport said.

As for the operation of terminal D, the airport said that on August 30, 2012 many famous airlines have been switching to the new terminal.

“Dates for the airlines’ transfers are scheduled, and they are linked to the fact that the airport is a slot-coordinated one – the airlines confirm their slots twice a year – on January 31 and August 31. It’s important to say that fees and duties for airlines in the new terminal will remain unchanged for the airlines,” the airport said.
