The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Culture and Spirituality, which held its first meeting in the new composition of MPs of the seventh convocation, has decided to set up a working group to study the situation around Hostynny Dvir (Hospitality Court, a historic building) in Kyiv.

The working group is composed of opposition MPs Oles Doniy, Volodymyr
Yavorivsky and Oleksandr Bryhynets, the press service of Batkivschyna
faction deputy Oleksandr Bryhynets reported.

“The purpose of the working group is to draw up a bill that would
make it impossible to rebuild and reconstruct Hostynny Dvir as a unique
object of cultural heritage. We will prepare respective amendments to
laws for the next meeting of the committee,” Bryhynets said.

The creation of the working group was initiated by Doniy, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Culture and Spirituality.

As reported, on September 20, 2012, Kyiv City Council leased a
1.02-hectare land plot to Ukrrestavratsiya for five years to restore
Hostynny Dvir and turn it into an office center with a parking lot for
guests.

On August 3, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych signed a law
expelling Hostynny Dvir from the list of monuments of cultural heritage
that cannot be privatized.

Before that, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine issued resolution
No. 1380 dated August 15, 2011 to remove Hostynny Dvir from the list of
architectural monuments. According to the document, the building was
removed from the list of facilities guarded by the state.
