Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev will not attend the summit of presidents of Central European States in Yalta in mid-May because of the situation with respect for human rights in Ukraine, his press officer, Maria Ivanova, said on Friday, May 4.

"A respective decision was already made some time ago, and one of the reasons is the state of human rights in this country," she said.

The presidents of Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, the Czech Republic and Estonia have also said they will not attend the summit, as a signal of protest against the situation with former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.
